Keep it in Perspective

As you know, I have been preparing for my one woman show. It is a culmination of many things. I used a compilation of the stories I have heard over the past several years to create a character who I believe is real. She struggles with the same things many of us do; the drive to be successful professionally and the desire to have a meaningful personal life.
This process has not been without its challenges. I wrote the play; produced it; directed it, and perform it. Tomorrow is my one technical rehearsal. Then I open on Saturday afternoon. I trust that the play will be moving. It is not to tell people how they should be living; but rather to offer options and encouragement. I want Cracked to become a show that is requested. I want to take it on the road; to offer a fresh perspective on the dilemma of feeling as though we have to choose between making a living and having a life.
It is a story I have to hear myself. Most days I know that I am focusing on the right people and things; but it never hurts to be reminded. So this a reminder for you, too. I don’t presume to know who and what matters most to you, but you know. Keep it in perspective.
