I'm confused

I don’t understand what’s going on. I have had more than a few conversations lately with really good people who are at varying stages of their businesses who are undergoing significant attack. People who are being lashed out at by customers, or just others who (think they) know them. It is distressing to me that we are striking out at each other rather than assisting in stabilizing our businesses and moving forward.
The other irony is the use of technology to fight our battles. People have become vary bold in their written attacks in email, on twitter, or through facebook. These were intended to advance social connection, not create greater divisions. There is an anonymity that suggests insulation from repercussion. It is perceived as ‘victimless’ because you don’t actually ’see’ your victim. Well, I have and I have heard the misery in their voices. Nothing is being served here and it is a greater reflection on those lashing out than those on the receiving end.
I talk about the importance of character in business (and life) and yet folks come to me confused, as to how to have businesses of character when we are not always dealing with people of character.
We are still responsible for our actions and how we choose to respond.
If there is anyone else out there on the receiving end of someone else’s panic, desperation, or frustration; let me know. I would rather work together to discover a solution than see you succomb to someone else’s mood.
