Back to the Beginning

I am undergoing a transformation; therefore my business is too. The need actually came from my business. I have been marketing, getting lots of web traffic, and gathering ‘followers’. I attempt to populate the website with relevant information and yet business is not doing what I projected it would – even during this time in our economic adjustment. I don’t know if your business or career is in need of a transformation, but I thought you might benefit from my experience, so I’m going to blog the process for you.
I have taken the time to do what I would advise clients to – go back to the beginning. I am known as a reinvention artist to my friends and family. I have re-created myself around my core skills many times. Now is no different. I don’t actually see a radical change – just fine tuning and minor tweaking.
So, the ‘back to the beginning’ for me is who and what matters most to me and what I need to have to focus on those things.
Usually when I do this exercise with clients, I allow them to identify five values and then prioritize them. I was able to isolate my two most significant values and rank them: maintaining relationships and engaging in meaningful work. Of course then I had to determine which relationships and how best to invest in them and I had to define meaningful work for myself. I will share that with you next time.
I only write this in the hope that my journey of re-discover might be useful to you, too.
